Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) registers pet cats as well as dogs. Its website lists “Pet Cat Registration” next to Pet Dog Registration, with its own instruction guide and login link. [S1] This guide walks through the steps and the documents. For more on caring for cats, visit our cat hub.
Where to apply
On AMC’s Pet Dog Registration page you’ll find “Instructions for Pet Cat Registration” and “Login for Pet Cat Registration”. [S1] The login link opens AMC’s Online Service Booking System, the same portal used for dog registration. [S2]
Step by step
- Log in: enter the applicant’s name and mobile number and click “Send OTP”. [S1]
- Verify: enter the OTP sent to your mobile and click “Submit OTP”. [S1]
- Choose the module: select “Cat Registration”. [S1]
- Fill in the form: owner details and address, then each cat’s type, breed, gender, age in months, name and a photo. Enter how many cats you’re registering; the fee is calculated on the form. [S1]
- Upload documents (see below) and tick the declaration. [S1]
- Submit and pay online. You’ll get a message on your mobile after payment. [S1]
- Print your receipt. You can reprint it as many times as you need from the “Reprint Receipt” option. [S1]
If your payment fails, the portal has a “Charge Back Tracking” option where you can check it by date. [S1]
Documents to upload
The upload section in AMC’s guide is headed “All Attachment Compulsory”, with a maximum of 5 MB per file. It lists: [S1]
- ID proof: Aadhaar, driving licence or PAN card
- the cat’s vaccination certificate
- a photo of the place where the cat is kept
- your property tax bill
- your electricity (light) bill
- a photo of the owner
- a rent agreement, which appears to apply if you’re renting
You also enter the number of at least one proof, such as your Aadhaar, election card, driving licence, light bill, ration card or property tax number. [S1]

Before submitting, you agree to “abide and follow existing Rules, Act, Circular and Guideline issued and notified by Central Government, State Government, State and Animal Welfare Board of India related to animal Cat.” [S1]
What AMC’s guide doesn’t say
- The fee: the guide doesn’t state it in writing. The form calculates it based on the number of cats. A sample screen in the guide shows Rs 200 for one cat, but that’s a test entry, so go by the amount the form shows you. [S1]
- Renewal and deadlines: the guide doesn’t mention a validity period, renewal or a deadline.
- Whether it’s compulsory: we didn’t find an official AMC notice saying so.
