Pet dog registration is compulsory in Guwahati. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) says that failing to register is a violation of law and is punishable. [S1] There are two official routes: GMC’s own Veterinary Branch, and the Assam government’s online Sewa Setu portal. This guide covers both. For everything else about dogs, visit our dog hub.

Which route should you use?
The two official pages give different fees: Rs 110 through GMC [S1] and Rs 200 plus charges on Sewa Setu. [S2] The Sewa Setu page doesn’t say whether it’s specific to Guwahati. If you’re unsure, call GMC’s Veterinary Branch and ask which registration it recognises for your address.
The Pawsitive Hoomans Take
GMC is clear that registration is compulsory and must be renewed every year. Pick one route, keep the certificate and the metal tag details safe, and set a yearly reminder to renew.
🐾 You’ll need a vet-certified vaccination card. Our free Vaccination Tracker keeps your dog’s dates on track, and a Pet Passport stores the card and certificate together.
Other cities: see our dog registration guide for every city and renewal deadlines by city.
