Nagar Nigam Dehradun takes dog licence applications online. In December 2025 it also published a notice of a new dog licence bye-law, which sets the fees. This guide explains how to apply, what you’ll need, and what the proposed rules say. For everything else about dogs, visit our dog hub.
Please note: the fees below come from a public notice of the proposed Nagar Nigam Dehradun Dog Licence Bye-Law 2025, dated 12 December 2025. The notice says the bye-law comes into force once it’s published in the Uttarakhand Gazette. [S1] We couldn’t find that Gazette publication, so check the current fee with the Nagar Nigam before you pay.

The Pawsitive Hoomans Take
Dehradun is tightening its rules, especially for breeds like Pitbulls and Rottweilers, which need a higher fee, a sterilisation certificate and an affidavit. Even before the bye-law is final, registering now with a current rabies certificate is the simplest way to stay on the right side of it.
🐾 You’ll need your dog’s rabies vaccination date and certificate. Our free Vaccination Tracker keeps the dates on track, and a Pet Passport keeps the certificate and licence together.
