If you have a pet in Ludhiana, the Municipal Corporation says you need a licence. Its service page says: “If you have a pet, you now need a licence from Municipal Corporation Ludhiana.” [S1] This guide covers the fee, the April renewal, the fine and the documents. Fee and renewal
- Fee: Rs 400 a year. [S1]
- Renewal: every year in April, for Rs 400. [S1]
- If you don’t renew: the Corporation takes back the token it issued, and the owner has to pay a fine of Rs 100 per day until they get the licence. [S1]
Documents

- proof of address: Aadhaar card, voter card or passport
- a passport-size photo of the applicant
- a photo of the pet
- the pet’s vaccination certificate, issued by a registered vet or hospital
- a self-attested certificate, if you’re claiming an exemption
The page lists the vaccination certificate twice, once as “in case of vaccination done” and once as required. The page doesn’t say what exemptions exist. To be safe, keep a current anti-rabies vaccination certificate ready.
How to apply
The service page links to an online application site for new licences and renewals, pets.mcludhiana.gov.in. [S1] When we checked on 9 October 2026, that site showed a browser security (certificate) warning. If you see the same warning, don’t enter your details there; call the Corporation’s helpline on 84375-35700 and ask how to apply. [S1]
